Getting Started

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. At this age, Dr. Darley can identify early signs of jaw or alignment issues and determine whether early intervention would be beneficial. Not every child will need early treatment, but catching potential problems early gives us the most options.
Your first visit is completely free and takes about 30–45 minutes. Dr. Darley will examine your teeth and jaw, take any necessary X-rays, discuss your concerns and goals, explain your treatment options, and provide a personalized plan with cost estimates. There's no pressure to commit — we want you to have all the information you need.
No referral is needed. You're welcome to schedule a consultation directly with our office. However, many of our patients are referred by their family dentist, and Dr. Darley works closely with dentists in the Ocala area to coordinate care.

Treatment Options

LightForce braces are the world's first fully personalized, 3D-printed ceramic brackets. Unlike traditional metal braces that use generic, one-size-fits-most brackets, every LightForce bracket is custom-designed for each individual tooth. This results in faster treatment (averaging 4–6 months shorter), fewer office visits, and a more discreet tooth-colored appearance. Traditional metal braces remain an excellent and cost-effective option for all types of cases.
Angel Aligners are a clear aligner system similar to Invisalign. They use a series of custom-made, nearly invisible removable trays to gradually straighten your teeth. You can remove them to eat, brush, and floss normally. Angel Aligners use advanced materials that stay clearer throughout treatment and are effective for mild to complex cases.
The best way to determine your ideal treatment is to schedule a free consultation. Dr. Darley will evaluate your specific needs, discuss your lifestyle preferences and goals, and recommend the option that will give you the best results. Some patients are candidates for all three options, while others may benefit most from a specific approach.

During Treatment

Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of your case. On average, treatment with braces takes 12–24 months. LightForce braces often complete treatment 4–6 months faster than traditional braces. Angel Aligner treatment varies based on the severity of alignment issues. Dr. Darley will give you an estimated timeline during your consultation.
Getting braces placed doesn't hurt. You may feel some pressure and mild soreness for the first few days as your teeth begin to adjust, but this is completely normal and typically subsides quickly. Over-the-counter pain relievers and orthodontic wax can help with any initial discomfort.
With braces, you should avoid hard foods (nuts, hard candy, ice), sticky foods (caramel, gum, taffy), crunchy foods (popcorn, chips), and foods you bite into (corn on the cob, whole apples). If you have Angel Aligners, there are no food restrictions since you remove the trays to eat.
Most patients visit every 6–8 weeks for adjustments. LightForce braces may require fewer visits due to their precision. Angel Aligner check-ins are typically scheduled based on your progress. We'll work with your schedule to make appointments as convenient as possible.

Financial & Insurance

The cost varies depending on your treatment type and case complexity. During your free consultation, we'll provide a detailed cost estimate. We offer in-house 0% financing to make treatment affordable, and we accept most dental insurance plans with orthodontic benefits.
Yes, we accept most dental insurance plans that include orthodontic coverage. Our staff will help you verify your benefits and file claims on your behalf to maximize your coverage. Please bring your insurance information to your consultation.
Absolutely. We offer in-house, zero-interest financing so you can spread the cost of treatment into comfortable monthly payments. We'll work with you to create a plan that fits your budget. Your smile is an investment we want to make accessible.

After Treatment

Yes. Retainers are essential to maintaining your beautiful results after treatment. Your teeth naturally want to shift back toward their original positions, and retainers prevent this. Dr. Darley will provide you with retainers and specific instructions on how long and how often to wear them.
Wear your retainer as instructed, maintain good oral hygiene, continue regular dental checkups, and contact our office if you notice any changes in your bite or alignment. Taking care of your retainer is just as important as the treatment itself.
